An exciting new range of official Cambridge English preparation materials from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) and Cambridge University Press will play a big part in raising the standard of English worldwide – according to Cambridge experts.
The new preparation materials are part of the ongoing collaboration between the two world-leading organisations who have already worked together on a wide range of publishing and research projects. As part of this collaboration, other exams resources published by Cambridge University Press will also be recognised as the official preparation materials for the Cambridge English exams.
A new Cambridge-based team, made up of experts from the two departments of Cambridge University, has come together to work on these exams preparation materials, and will soon launch a series of mobile phone applications as their first product range. The applications are designed to provide flexible on-the-move support for learners preparing for a range of Cambridge English exams.
The Cambridge-based collaboration is headed by Cambridge ESOL’s Sharon Harvey. She says bringing together this level of expertise is the ‘perfect fit’ for the English language learning sector: “A big part of raising the standard of English worldwide is having good quality teaching and learning materials available for the millions of learners of English. By bringing together the unique experience from these two organisations, we can produce high quality materials that fully fit candidates’ needs. We are both part of the University of Cambridge and share many values, including our not for profit approach to education, and a commitment to quality.”
Other collaborative projects in the pipeline include new publications and blended learning courses. All of the new materials will be developed using the unique Cambridge Learner Corpus and the results of the English Profile research programme, two major research projects that are providing an unprecedented insight into how learners actually use English.
