Cambridge University Press’s Quiz Contest rekindles passion for knowledge

~Symbiosis School, Pune Topped Quiz Contest~

  Symbiosis School walked away with the Exploring General Knowledge Quiz Competition 2017 Champions Trophy. The competition was organised by Cambridge University Press in the city of Pune on 27th January, 2017. The school team competed with 110 teams from different schools in and around the city.   On winning the trophy, Sriram Jorvekar (Class 8), Shreyas Datar (Class 8) and Shwetark Kulkarni (Class 6) from Symbiosis School said that they thoroughly enjoyed the content and the unique format of the quiz,and the surprise questions related to songs by John Denver made the experience entertaining!

  More than 320 Students across 40 schools in Pune participated in the quiz competition. Symbiosis School walked away with the Winner’s trophy, while Sanskriti School and D.E.S. Secondary School won the First and the Second Runner-up trophy, respectively. Medals and prizes were given away by the organisers at the event.   Mr Ratnesh Kumar Jha, Managing Director, South Asia, Cambridge University Press said, “Last year, we received a great response in Coimbatore. We are delighted with the turnout in Pune and thank all teachers, parents and students for making this a great success. I congratulate all the winners and participants; I am thoroughly impressed with their extensive knowledge and talent.  Going forward, we intend to move to other cities and engage with more schools.”  

The quiz competition is an annual event to provide a platform which encourages and helps students to learn and acquire knowledge. It covers general topics and questions from sports, sciences, social sciences, politics, entertainment, arts and much more. The event is attended by teachers, parents, quizzing enthusiasts and members of the media.
